December 29, 2012 - Canyon Lake Fishing Report
The best way to describe the day was cold and windy. We launched at 11AM and fished until 3PM. It was cloudy the entire day, water temperature was 56 to 57 degrees and air temperature never rose above 45. What a day for a dad/uncle with 3 kids ages 6 to 11. I explained that I could not envision those kids being able to last for 4 hours in such cold weather and poor fishing conditions. To my amazement they did wonderfully, never complaining and everyone caught fish. I have never been more impressed with a group of kids. Expecting tough bass fishing, we opted for live medium size minnows and fished drop-shot in 20’ feet water at the edge of drop offs, out of the wind.
The kid’s conduct, attitudes, speech and attentiveness was beyond reproach. What a blessing for me to experience and a tribute to their family values. It was an excellent end to the 2012 fishing season.
